hi,
I'm using the latest xineliboutput with vdr-1.7.10
if I switch the audiotrack of a channel very rapidly xineliboutput produces dropouts and starts stuttering and after 5-10 sec. (still switching) the vdr -> vdr-sxfe connection will crash vdr-sxfe is abel to reconnect after 2s but audio and video is still unstable - if I wait for 10-20s audio/video is OK
I tried udp and tcp (localhost) connection - same results
any ideas?
thanks
marco
Hi, I can confirm this behaviour. Switching audio produces dropouts and some other problems. I am using xineliboutput from cvs and stable xinelib! vdr-sxfe --video=xv --audio=pulseaudio -R xvdr+udp://127.0.0.1
Any ideas? with regards Halim
Hi, any ideas how to solve the dropouts when switching the audio tracks in vdr using xineliboutput? BR. Halim

1. I have no idea. But to nail this problem down, did you see anything in the respective log files (syslog, pulseaudio)? Try to increase the debug level. 2. Does top show anything weird? 3. If not, did you try with a different “sound server” in `--audio`? 4. Since when have you noticed this problem? 5. What distribution do you run? What versions exactly? 6. Does this happen also when playing non-VDR stuff?
Thanks,
Paul

I am not using pulseaudio for my vdr machine.

No,
- If not, did you try with a different “sound server” in `--audio`?
No because I want to use xineliboutput's alsa driver :-).
- Since when have you noticed this problem?
Only when I switch the audio tracks in vdr. Audio is working correct when I don't switch tracks.
- What distribution do you run? What versions exactly?
Opensuse 11.2
- Does this happen also when playing non-VDR stuff?
I don't know because i don't have an other app which can switch audio tracks on the fly.
The audiosystem works well the problems only occour when switching audio in vdr. BR. Halim

done. tested with softdevice. Using softdevice works as expected and produces no dropouts. But this isn't the best way. I need vdpau support and sd doesn't support it.
Are you using xineliboutput and can try to reproduce my problem? Any help is appreciated. Regards Halim

So why do you specify it on the command line?

I meant, was there a version when it stopped working or have you experienced this problem since the beginning?

good point: I have tested it with pulseaudio as well to check if this is alsa related!. It makes no difference if alsa nor pulse is in use.

I've experienced this problem since the beginning! It never worked reliable for me.
Well please try to reproduce. Choose a channel with more audiotracks like german Das erste, ZDF, or euronews. Press the audio key on the vdr remote and try to switch the tracks and see what happens :-(. BR. halim

I have still the same problems the wierd thing is that I don't have those problems during DVD replaying with xineliboutput I can only reproduce this problem during regular channel replaying and with recordings
