Better behaviour in cDisplayChannel when switching channels

Hello everybody, when switching to a channel (for example "21") and there exist no other channels starting with this number (210, 211, or sth. like that), VDR displays in the DisplayChannel OSD (and also in my LCD): "2- ZDF" "21- EinsExtra" (When switching to other channels, the dash gets removed after a timeout). In my opinion, the dash is not needed in this case, so I modified the corresponding method (see attached patch). Switching to channel 21 now looks like that: "2- ZDF" "21 EinsExtra" Regards, Joachim.

vdr+xine plugin: playing recordings stalls when SVDRP is used

Hello For weeks, I've noticed that video and audio stall for a few seconds from time to time when watching a recording. In fact, the video and audio will stall when vdradmin queries vdr through SVDRP. Since I have only a budget card, I cannot verify if the TV output has the same kind of problem. I only use xine-plugin. Can some other people confirm this problem ? My setup is: - Nova CI-s card - vdr 1.3.42 (Darren Salt's) - xine-plugin 0.7.7-2.ds (also Darren's package) - vdr-plugin-subtitles 0.3.10-1.ds - vdr-plugin-ttxtsubs 0.0.5-11 Cheers

creating core dumps with 1.3.42

The current function to activate core-dumps for vdr running setuid ist only working for kernel > 2.6.13 ( says the comment in vdr.c ). Actualy it is not working for 2.4.21 but it was easy an easy change, just replace prctl(PR_SET_DUMPABLE, 2, 0, 0, 0) with prctl(PR_SET_DUMPABLE, 1, 0, 0, 0) If you need the switch with "2" ( what does "2" mean for >2.6.13 ??) It could do something like: if (prctl(PR_SET_DUMPABLE, 2, 0, 0, 0) < 0) { if (prctl(PR_SET_DUMPABLE, 1, 0, 0, 0) < 0) { fprintf(stderr, "vdr: warning - cannot set dumpable: %s\n", strerror(errno)); // always non-fatal, and will not work with kernel < 2.6.13 } }

vdr-1.3.43 and xine ?

Hello, the http://home.vrweb.de/~rnissl/vdr-1.3.42-dvbplayer6.patch gives some reject with vdr-1.3.43. Is it still needed or do we need a new (partial) one ? Thank you very much, -- Grégoire FAVRE

Streamdev-client and shared video recordings directories.

I have a streamdev server-client set up here, the server has 2 dvb cards, and handles all the recording. The client with no dvb cards using streamdev-client, shares the /video0 and /video1 directories via NFS mount, as well as epg.data. The client only ever reads from the epg.data. The client is a diskless node, and boots via etherboot across the network from the vdr server machine. My problem is that whilst the server is busy taping recordings, the client wont see any new recordings until its restarted and does another video directory scan. Is there a way to do this scan every so often so recordings will show up on the client? I imagine if I wanted to delete recordings from the client, that they as well would appear not deleted on the server, until it was also restarted. Any thoughts on how to get around this (force video directory scan?, occasional video directory scan by VDR?)

[PATCH] replayjump-ok

Hello list, I was always stumbling over the behaviour of jumping in recordings (red button): The OK-button does not confirm the jump but aborts it which I think is rather unlogical. The appended patch gives the OK-Button the same behaviour as the "down" and "pause" buttons, which means it jumps to the requested position and pauses the replay. If no one complains I would like Klaus to integrate this patch into vdr. Christoph
