[ANNOUNCE] VDR developer version 1.3.45

VDR developer version 1.3.45 is now available at ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/vdr/Developer/vdr-1.3.45.tar.bz2 A 'diff' against the previous version is available at ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/vdr/Developer/vdr-1.3.44-45.diff Besides some other fixes and enhancements, I'm currently mainly trying to increase the reliability of VPS timers. This version brings some improvements in that area, but there will probably have to be some more changes in case a broadcast is shifted to a time after its advertised end time without the EPG data being updated accordingly, and the device receiving that channel is switched to an other channel in the meantime. So please keep an eye on VPS recordings and report any irregularities you might observe. Please make sure you provide a proper log excerpt, with logging set to --log=3 (the default) for maximum information. You also may want to make sure that all of VDR's log messages go into *one* file (on some systems log messages are spread into several files, which makes it hard to use the data in order to track down a bug). The changes since version 1.3.44 - Fixed updating the "Info" button in the "Timers" menu. - Reduced the number of events to actually check when setting events to timers. - cMenuEditIntItem now checks the given value and forces it to be between the given min and max limits. - The status changes of EPG events are now logged for all channels that have timers. - Removed the log message "deleting plugin: ..." when shutting down VDR (thanks to Christoph Haubrich for reporting that this is irritating when calling "vdr --help"). - Fixed cReadLine::Read() for lines that end with the infamous "\r\n" (thanks to Rolf Ahrenberg). - Fixed cDvbDevice::SetAudioBypass() in case setTransferModeForDolbyDigital is false (thanks to Werner Fink). - Updated 'sources.conf'. - Fixed the shutdown timeout (thanks to Alexander Wenzel). - Only calling RemoveEmptyVideoDirectories() once in case a recording has been deleted (reported by Hardy Flor). - Fixed deleting recordings that have been removed externally when running out of disk space (reported by Jan Lenz). - Fixed handling repeating VPS timers (they stopped recording too early). - Timer log messages now show "VPS" if this is a VPS timer. - Fixed getting the present EPG event in case none is currently 'running' (it then returns the one that just ended). - Fixed calling a plugin's main menu function while a message is being displayed (reported by Helmut Auer). - Updated the Russian OSD texts (thanks to Oleg Roitburd). - Made cMenuRecordings::GetRecording() 'protected' (suggested by Marius Heidenstecker). - Speeded up cRemux::ScanVideoPacket() (thanks to Reinhard Nissl). - Enhanced logging EPG event data. - Fixed format string handling (thanks to Darren Salt). - The new function cDevice::ForceTransferMode() can be used to force the primary device into transfer mode (thanks to Reinhard Nissl). - The 'version' of EPG events is now ignored when reading EPG data from 'epg.data' or via SVDRP/PUTE to avoid problems with double EPG events. - The 'running status' of EPG events is now only set to SI::RunningStatusNotRunning for events before the present event. - Fixed some #include sequences. - Single shot VPS timers are now only considered 'expired' if their associated EPG event has been explicitly set to SI::RunningStatusNotRunning. - The check for timers to be deleted is now done only every 30 seconds. ring buffer overflow under high cpu load

I am using vdr-1.3.44 with xine-0.7.8 and everything works fine under normal operations. But, If I start using intensive CPU load applications, such as "VDRConvert" to create a dvd, vdr starts giving me ring buffer overflow messages. No recording-name in an episode-folder

Hi Klaus, really a great work!! Something I realized: I'm recording the Simpsons on "Pro Sieben" as a repeating Timer. The Simpsons do not have a subtitle, so in the Recordings-Menu I see a subfolder "The Simpsons" but inside the Folder there are only the Times and Dates of the recording, because there is no subtitle... Would it be possible that if a recording in a episode-folder dores not have a subtitle, the episode-name would be displayed? xine-0.7.8 with vdr-dvd plugin

When I attempt to play DVD's under xine-0.7.8 using the DVD plugin (from CVS), I get alot of skipping to the point that it is not watchable. Does anyone have the DVD plugin for VDR working with the Xine plugin? I have tried the XVMC driver and that fails immediately. When I use the "XV" display driver, it works a little, but thats when I get the really bad skips in video. My video card is a Nvidia GeForce MX 420 and I am using the current 8178 proprietary video drivers. Best Regards,

Hallo, since I could add a great improvement I release a new version of the eggtimer plugin. Improved message displaying for VDR >= 1.3.37. (thanks to Tobias Grimm for bringing light into this) Any problems with VDR crashes related to eggtimer OSD-messages should be gone with VDR >= 1.3.37 and vdr-eggtimer >= 0.9.3 It's a difficult topic because displaying OSD-messages from a background thread (like eggtimer) is available since VDR 1.3.37. Earlier versions do not offer secure ways to display a message from a background thread. I strongly recommend to use VDR >= 1.3.37 when using OSD message eggtimers. I do not make any efforts to improve message displaying for older VDR < 1.3.37 because we are shortly before 1.4 release. ttxsubs plays live subtitles instead of recorded subtitles

Hello Since about vdr 1.3.39, I've noticed that ttxsubs shows recorded with tttxt subtitles will play subtitles from the program currently played (or recorded) by vdr. On the other hand, ttxtsubs correctly shows subtitles on live (i.e. not recorded ) programs. Has anyone noticed the same behavior ? Thanks

YAepg question

I'm using a recent version of the YAepg plugin and am quite happy with it but I have a couple of questions on it -- Is there any way to change the layout? My setup doesn't re-scale the output and give me the picture in picture small view while the EPG is up so that corner is wasted space. If I can spread the description across the top and leave the rest of the area for EPG information, then that would be perfect. Also, is there an easy way to change the colors/fonts? Its ok the way it is, but would be cool if I can get it to be translucent or whatever. There's also an interesting thing that happens -- occasionally the description text jumps with garbage characters in the window. More annoying then anything but it doesn't show the full description all the time. Thanks Norm
