Crash while reading channels.conf

Hello, I've started experiencing some weird crashes right after my VDR box boots. The crash occurs when reading channels.conf, but not on every reboot. VDR starts up automatically, and if it starts crashing while reading channels.conf, no restarts appear to work, another reboot is needed. On the next reboot, channels.conf is unchanged but the crash may no longer occur. This is on Fedora 8 i386, VDR 1.4.7 with a bunch of patches and plugins. There's only one patch affecting channels.c but I don't see how it could have anything to do with the crash. Backtrace attached; line 752 in my channels.c is while ((q = strtok_r(p, ",", &strtok_next)) != NULL) { (the one for the apids loop) The channels.conf line in the backtrace is the first one in my channels.conf. At bootup, vdradmin-am starts slightly after VDR so I guess it could be possible that it's trying to do some SVDRP commands at the same time when things go south. Any clues?

VDR 1.5.4+ crashes

Hi! I'm having a problem with that VDR version 1.5.4 and newer crashes as fast as I tries to start them. See below - I have read through the changelog but I have no idea what might cause my segfaults. sound stuttering on playback

Hello. I have a VDR box in the basement doing most of my recording. It has a PVR-500 and DVB-C TT-1500 card in it and it runs vdr-1.5.6. Upstairs I have a fanless box in the living room running vdr-1.5.12. Recordings sourced from the PVR-500 have stuttering sound when played on the fanless box through the FF output, but not when test-played through vdr-xine. The sound doesn't stutter at all when played on the basement box. Below is mplayer's attempt at identifying each 001.vdr file. Only difference seems to be the format being 720x576 or 704x576. What other tests can I run???? Any ideas? bad hardware combo EPIA SP1300 & TT-2300 FF?

Hi I've been building a new fanless VDR box. Would like to provide some feedback, and perhaps attract some comments and suggestions :) Hardware: EPIA SP-1300 mounted in a low profile heatsink Serener GA-L01 case, 120G 2.5" laptop drive (plus NFS share to central VDR 'recorder'), 1G DDR400 RAM and a TT-2300-C FF card + CI/CAM Software: Fedora Core 8 (2.6.23.9-85.fc8), vdr-1.5.12, plugins:mplayer/mp3, remote, vdr-xine, dvd, epgsearch Comments: -Really quiet, which was the main purpose of this build. -would have liked to take advantage of the motherboard MPEG2/4 features but am still having problems with xvmc/xxmc with vdr-xine - keep getting kernel "vmalloc" ERRORS -no problems with vdr itself or the other plugins at this stage -Mplayer playing via "mpegpes" has to run with the "slow cpu" switch in mplayer.sh.conf - even then some 900x700 XVID .avi files need 85% cpu. So quality is not that flash -not sure if I can use motherboard MPEG4 acceleration with output on the TT-2300 FF composite video out to improve cpu/heat usage? -this combination of local VDR box in the lounge with remote 'recorder' isn't ideal - as all the timers are only available via the 'remote' menu Cheers - and hope everyone had a great xmas!

Conax CAM refuses to tune

Hi, After almost a year without TV (the old VDR box died completely and we didn't bother to rebuild it) it's time to watch some Christmas specials and I've tried to resurrect VDR. I have it all working ok for our FTA cable channels and VDR works as it should there. For the few subscription channels we have a Hauppauge CI and a Conax CAM and a normal "subscription card". This setup worked well for years before the crash to I assume it should work ok now too. During startup I see: CAM 4: module ready CAM 4: Conax 4.00e, 01, 0B00, 04B1 CAM 4: doesn't reply to QUERY - only a single channel can be decrypted Which looks ok to me. Then I also see a few of these pairs: CAM 4: module reset CAM 4: module present Looking into the Setup->CAM menu shows that "CAM 4" is present and is a Conax 4.00. Sometimes I can open the menu for the CAM but usually it fails. When it happens to open and I choose anything from the five entries there nothing ever happens, for some options I see some "Please wait" text and then after a while the menu is closed. So, something isn't right there. After fiddling with the CA descriptor in channels.conf (this isn't really that much documented) I manage to get this: CAM 4: unassigned skipped channels 15..19 The channels 15 to 19 are the encrypted channels. The initial channels.conf I got from "scan" had "1" for the CA field, but reading this: http://www.mail-archive.com/vdr%40linuxtv.org/msg01409.html I see the quote: "Please set the CA parameter of these channels to 0 (FTA) and tune to them again. VDR should automatically insert the correct CA values then." So I set them to "0" and restarted VDR. Now I see that VDR has changed the entries to: SVT1;SVT:146000:C0M128:C:6900:1019:1018;1017:1004:B00:1010:0:1:0 SVT2;SVT:146000:C0M128:C:6900:1029:1028;1027:1004:B00:5030:0:1:0 ie "B00". Could be ok as this seems to be the id of the CAM. Hardcoding "4" there has no effect, and "1" at least makes VDR take a bit longer to decide that "Channel not available". I am not trying to record multiple channels or do anything fancy, just get VDR limping along so that we can watch some live TV the next few days. The setup is: * 2 Hauppauge DVB-c FF cards * Hauppauge CI * Conax 4.x CAM * vdr-1.5.9 (unpatched) I'll do a test with 1.4.7 too, just to make sure. Hang on! Nah, same thing with 1.4.7.
