vdr-1.5.3 - LANG="de_DE@euro" not recognized

Hi everbody, in my system the LANG environment is set to "de_DE@euro". VDR did not recognize this character set. After I changed LANG to "de_DE.iso-8859-15" umlauts are correctly displayed e.g.in the EPG data. But I still get the following error in syslog: "codeset is 'ISO-8859-15' - unknown". What's wrong here? I had a look into vdr.c and found out, that the dot is used delimiter between language and codeset - as "de_DE@euro" does not contain any dot, vdr fails to recognize this. Is "de_DE@euro" an invalid value for this variable? Regards, Joachim.

[ANNOUNCE] pvr350-Plugin -new development snapshot

I just announced it in the vdrportal forum, but it may also be interesting for non-german speaking vdr users. The pvr350-plugin implements an output device for the PVR350 TV out, using the hardware mpeg2 decoder. It was originally written by Dominic Morris, but he stopped development. Based on the last version 0.0.5 from December 2005 (which was only sent to a few people), I adapted the plugin during the last 18 months to ivtv changes. Although I have only very limited knowledge about C++, I also managed to improve some things. Andreas Schäfers helped me a lot; he introduced even ac3-to-mp2 conversion which is important if you use the dvd-plugin. Look into the README for requirements and further details. http://drseltsam.device.name/vdr/pvr/src/pvr350/ There is still much work to do - feel free to contribute patches! For watching analogue TV from the tuner of the PVR350 you need a second plugin as input device. Because the analogtv-plugin is out of date, I highly recommend the latest unofficial pvrinput. Configuring vdr to use multiple drives/partitions for storage

I am trying to find out the best way to add additional storage to VDR 1.4.6-1 over time. Could someone on the list give some advise on how best to config vdr so that I can add additional storage over time as my needs increase? Is that correct? I have looked for some documentation on how this aspect of vdr should/could be configured but have not found anything that clearly defines how this should be best achieved. [PATCH] recordsshowfree

Moin, whenever you enter the recordings page via a direct key (e.g. the red key if no menu is open), you need to go back to the main menu page to know the available disk space. So I wrote a patch to show this info on the recordings page too, e.g.: Disk 95%, 4:40 (7,0 GB) free. Thanks for the tip about VDR_OPTIONS. The Fedora package did not create /srv/vdr and I didn't want to use this location anyway as I currently record tv to another location and wanted to stick with that. Excellent software by the way! Chris

VDRAdmin behind Apache2

Hi, I am using VDRAdmin 3.5.3 behind Apache2 over HTTPS. Everything seems to work fine, but when I try to edit a timer, I get an error stating "method not allowed". Has anyone seen this problem? It does not happen if I use VDRAdmin from the localhost on the default port. Also, as of now, when connecting to VDRAdmin through apache2, I can create "one-shot" timers, but not recurring timers. If this was a permission issue, I would think that I would not be able to create any timers at all. Best Regards.

Is the remote control of a WinTV Nova-T PCI able to power on the computer

Hi all, The subject says it all. Since the PCI card has an always-lit LED on it, I wondered if the IR receiver was also powered and could turn on the computer, using the green power button on the remote. Since it's not working for me, are there any BIOS settings to allow that ? TIA, -- NH

Changing location of /srv/vdr

I am running vdr on Fedora Core 6 and found that I couldn't start vdr as a service. I believe the problem is the fact that the default directory for vdr is /srv/vdr which doesn't exist and causes the service to hang. How do I change this default so vdr runs as a service? Many thanks, Chris

Dear Klaus, I pay you respect, as you do a great job. You do a lot of work - for free - for the community! So, don't missunderstand me: I really do not intend to blame you personally! But when it comes to the "Service" thinking of a VDR, things get difficult. VDR is a Service - nothing more, nothing less (SOA thinking). The question "was there a recording" is neglibible. I don't care if there is a recording going on, when I want to watch a film. The main job of VDR at the time of watching a recording is to display the film. Who cares if the current _BACKGROUND_ recording is disturbed, it's a _FACT_ and i _CAN'T_ change anything at this time. But it drives me and my beloved mad, that we have a shutdown-show-shutdown-show (okay, don't want to do a cut'n'paste show here, but it was 10 maybe 15, 20 times!). Make a switch and everything is fine. With your emergency exit you fixed problems, that are actually not yours! If the DVB drivers are buggy, try to push the responsibility to those, who _MUST_ take care of the problem. For me, I have Technotrend budget cards which never have a DVB driver problem, it makes make blood rush. DVB-C budget decoding - no picture

I'm trying to get a picture out of my budget TT-C1500 card/ci/cam and having little success (but am making progress!).
