basic set-up for vdr and HVR 4000 in Ubuntu 7.10

Hi, What is the basic configuration(setup) for watching sattelite TV with a Hauppauge HVR 4000 card in Ubuntu 7.10. Drivers and scanning are OK, Kaffeine 0.8.4 is working, but how does I start with vdr? Thanks in advance Gaston

Feeds for IPTV plugin

I spent awhile googling IPTV to see what could be used with this plugin. The big network sites like NBC and CBS came up and they do list shows you can "watch online". But I found none of the info that would be needed to configure the plugin to work with these sites. Other sites that came up where www.dishnetpc.com/ and www.direct-pctv.com/ which claim unlimited access to 9000 channels if you buy their $40 software. Something noticably lacking from those sites is a REAL LIST of the channels they give access to. And even if they where legit, there is nothing there that indicates they would work with vdr and the plugin. So just what can be used with the IPTV plugin? Any links to sites known to work?

cChannels::ReNumber() & maxNumber

Hi all, if I empty channels.conf while VDR is running then cChannels::ReNumber() doesnot set cChannels::maxNumber to 0. Is this a feature ? Of course, when vdr is restarted I have maxNumber set to 0, thanks to initialization in cChannels(). Could we not, in the beginning of ReNumber(), set maxNumber = 0 ? I am running 1.4.7, 1.5.16 seems to be the same. Thanks. -- Sundararaj

Excuse Jean-Claude Repetto. I refer to the channels Not DVB-S compliant emitted by Hispasat. On this website can be http://es.kingofsat.net/pos-30W.php. For example: TVE 1 Not DVB-S compliant TVE 2 Not DVB-S compliant It is possible the reception of these channels with vdr + dvb-s card? Greetings

TNT cards advice

Hello, I'm using VDR from a long time with 2 DVS-S cards (one FF and one budget). Now that french TNT comes to me (and tired of waiting free TNT by sat...) I'll upgrade to TNT cards. So I'm planning to add one WinTV-NOVA-T-500 and one WinTV-NOVA-T PCI and keep my FF DVB-S card for TV output. I'm thinking that these 2 DVB-T cards are correctly supported. Am I wrong ? I need another advice for antenna connection. The WinTV-NOVA-T (new model) have an antenna in AND an antenna out, so I'm thinking plug antenna in antenna in ;-) and put a cable between antenna out and the antenna in of WinTV-NOVA-T-500. Is this OK or do I really need two différents cables from the antenna with an amplifier ? A last question, with DVB-S, I'm needing two cards if I want to see two different channels because the channels could be on differents transponders. But is it true with DVB-T ? In others words: if I want to see 3 differents channels, do I really need 3 DVB-T tuners ? Thanks in advance. Éric.

Dear Fritz!Box- and VDR-Users, a new version of the Fritz!Box Plugin is available at http://joachim-wilke.de/index.htm?alias=vdr-fritz - - - The Fritz!Box Plugin connects to your Fritz!Box to inform you about incoming calls. The plugin can automatically mute or pause VDR when a call comes in. Via VDR's main menu you can browse your Fritz!Box phone book, the call lists and initiate calls out of all lists. - - - The last changes are: 2008-03-02: Version 0.0.12 - reading country- and regioncode from Fritz!Box already at startup to avoid lookup delays on incoming calls - modified cTcpClient and cHttpClient to call "recv" non-blocking. This fixes a possible segfault when stopping vdr (reported and fix tested by Frodo [23]) - fixed handling unknown messages in cFritzListener that caused an SIGABRT - fixed reading country- and regioncode from Fritz!Box - changed normalizing numbers ("+" -> "00") This should fix das-oertliche reverse lookup without further modifications. - added italian translation (provided by Diego [24]) - removed compatibility for old VDR versions (i18n-handling, UTF8-handling) This is in preparation for a stable plugin release 1.0.0 for VDR 1.6. VDR on OpenWRT / embedded system

Hi, has anybody thought of running VDR on OpenWRT? The Asus WL-500g Premium is an wlan access point with two USB 2.0 Ports. It has a 266 MHz Broadcom BCM94704 MIPS CPU and is running linux. http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Hardware/Asus/WL500GP It is possible to connect a harddrive and some USB DVB-S cards via USB to the access point. So VDR has to be compiled for the MIPS architecture. The benefit of an access point is that it makes absolutly no noice, is quite inexpensive and takes less electricity. It would be great if the access point could record videos on its harddisk and share them over network via samba or stream it... Is this possible? Any ideas?
