Weird problem with lirc and vdr-sxfe

I have ubuntu installed and all vdr stuff comes from repo. It has worked well but suddenly the remote started to act weird. Most of the time all works well but sometimes it seems like vdr-sxfe or lirc starts to buffer keypresses so that first nothing happens when I push a button on the remote but on the next button push vdr reacts on the first push. So it is like one push behind. I can fix this by restarting lirc. Most of the times it will not come back on the same night but it may. I do not recall any installation at the time the problems started. I even tried to do all updates what ubuntu suggested but it had no impact. Has anyone had similar problems ever? What should I check first? Could not find anything on the logs. Could I use lirc with vdr (no lirc=/dev/null) instead of vdr-sxfe (without --lirc). I have tried but seems like I can not get vdr to respond to remote. Can it be done this way? BR \\Kartsa

vdr-text2skin: token {ChannelSource} and VDR segmentation fault.

Thomas, i am not sure what this is a bug, but if to write in the section "channelInfo" (of *.skin) something like <text x1="100" x2="350" y1="-254" y2="-234" color="DB_DarkGreen" align="left" font="Sml">{ChannelSource}</text> and try to switch the channel using list separators (with keys left/right) then VDR crashes with "segmentation fault". At the same time if i change the channels from main list then token {ChannelSource} works, but displays the satellite name from sources.conf instead signal source "S36.0E" as it's written in the reference.txt. I think the point is that VDR can't simultaneously display token {ChannelSource} if using sheet list separators. I don't know what i need to write in this case (not...??? condition =...???). Casually remarked that if i write token {ChannelID} instead {ChannelSource} that everything is OK and I see "S36.0E-878-10100-7" (or "0-0-0-0" if i choose list separators).

HD output - your current favourites

My current vdr-1.4.7 (compiled 2 years ago as of tomorrow!) is still serving me well.. I have a Technotrend FF DVB-C doing all the heavy lifting, but as time moves on and HD content becomes more prevalent, I'm thinking of moving up. Right now I have an EPIA 800MHz quiet PC with the Technotrend giving me lovely SCART RGB out... if I got a nice LCD TV, what setup would be ideal for driving the HDMI input? Most of the content is still SD, and I am a real pedant about smooth video / interlaced output for scrolling text / live sports. Any time that I've played with vdr-xine or xineliboutput over my years with VDR, it's always been a bit juddery due to VGA timing not matching up with the TV.. is that improved any in the world of HD / HDMI? Just interested in hearing your thoughts, since I'm sure there are a dozen different ways to approach this! I can't possibly afford a reelbox at £1100, so if I'm going to do it, I'll have to roll my own :) Cheers, Gavin

No audio with recordings, XBMC frontend, LATM AAC

Hi, I'm setting up VDR using xbmc as a frontend as described here: http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45314&highlight=audio I've got live streaming working well but have an issue with recordings where no audio comes through. I am using mirak's VDR 1.7.7 from the repository here: https://launchpad.net/~mirak-mirak/+ppa-packages Could this have something to to do with the audio used for NZ tv which broadcasts in LATM encapsulated AAC? I'm not sure why the streamed live tv would work fine and the recordings don't though. Any pointers much appreciated. Thanks, Alex

BBC HD Problems

Hi, There appears to have been some changes made recently to BBCHD on 28.2E: - BBCHD:BBC:10847:vC56M2O35S0:S28.2E:22000:2328:2330=NAR;2329=eng:2331:0:6940 :2:2050:0 It is now not watchable with a reel eHD card - no audio and stuttering video. The Reel support people are saying this is possibly because they have started using AAC audio which is not supported by VDR. Is anyone else having problems with this and FFMPEG or CoreAVC via xine or is it still fine? Thanks, Morfsta

Problem with very large filesystem

Hi! I got a 11 TB NFS storage here to store my recordings, but VDR (1.6.0) states when trying to record "no diskspace available". Does anybody know how to fix this. [patch] optimize device selection

Hi, This patch is for vdr users's which have several cards. He changes the device selection, by adding two factors in the 'impact' choice : - prefering a already tuned device - the last usage time of device So, all devices are used and zapping time is reduce. Works better when eitscanner is disable. Regards, JLac
