feature request easy diseqc setup and channelscan for vdr

Hi List and Klaus, It would be really nice if vdr could support diseqc setup directly in vdr. I don't know if this can be done by a plugin but the current solution is difficult for endusers. Setting a diseqc.conf needs some knowledge in diseqc and it's commands. A simple interface for creating a diseqc.conf can improove the usability of vdr! The other thing is the channelscan problem. We have w_scan, dvbscan wirbelscan reelchannelscan .... I think vdr should support this out-of-the-box without any external dependency. Maybe through a plugin which comes with vdr itself. A few things about DVB subtitles

Hi, Although the support for DVB subtitles is more than satisfactory at the moment, I still have a few things I'd like see handled in a better way: 1. Pausing. At the monet the subtitles will disappear like in a live view - meaning that VDR seems to adhere the life time assignened to a subtitle image though the replay has been paused, causing the subtitles to disappear. 2. Backward jumping. When I jump backward, for example for 20 seconds, it will take quite a long time until the first subtitle is shown. Quite a many times this will end up in a rush of subtitles being presented very very quickly until the normal flow is reached. For us living and dealing with subtitled broadcasts this is a "major" issue. Which means that if these things could be fixed, VDR would be much more user friendly. I don't know where this behaviour originates, but I use xineliboutput as the output device. -Petri

Hi, I recently noticed that subtitle decoding on BBC stations for live broadcasts such as football or the news is not working very well. The subtitles, are barely readable. The words are often displayed separately and are erased before the entire sentence is drawn. It looks the same with vdr-1.6.0 and vdr-1.7.11. Could this be a bug in the SPU decoder? Regards André

Without this patch, if some options in `Makefile` were set outside `Makefile` and no `Make.config` existed with the necessary options, builds could fail. Hi, the current folder setting feature for timers doesn't have easy way to reset the selected folder back to the root one - or I just missed it. I'd really like to see this little addition in the next vdr release. BR, -- rofa

recording wildcards, recording priorities

Hello, I have a vdr installed on my home server box with a dvb-t usb adaptor. As I progress, I wonder, if there's a possibility to give wildcard recordings (i. .e "How I met*") and priorities... so, for instance, I want to record a series "How I met I mother" with priority 99 - so just whenever my device isn't busy otherwise. Normal recordings should be at priority "50" so preceed series recordings... I am using vdradmin-am on ubuntu (version 3.6.4-1) and I did not find any inforation on this while googleing - is this already implemented in later packages? HD sound troubles

I figured out what was causing trouble with the audio on the HD channels: audio.output.speaker_arrangement:Pass Through I changed that to audio.output.speaker_arrangement:Stereo 2.0 and now it works. But I am using HDMI for both video and audio what would be the optimal setting for the above value? Stereo 2.0 Headphones 2.0 Stereo 2.1 Surround 3.0 Surround 4.0 Surround 4.1 Surround 5.0 Surround 5.1 Surround 6.0 Surround 6.1 Surround 7.1

Thanks to everybody who shared suggestions on the two questions I had (xbox 360 integration and frame dropping warning) The frames still drop sometimes of course but at least I do not see the warnings and thanks to the postings on this mailing list (pointing me in the right direction) I have setup fuppes and that is good enough too. Now I have a different problem that puzzles me. on 19e, the HD channels show a terrible noise that doesn´t even go away when I press the mute button. Has anybody come across this? (and hopefully solved it) I am happy to post any config files or logs
