[ANNOUNCE] vdr-pvrinput

Hi all, The plugin for integrating analog MPEG2 cards by Hauppauge (et al.) into the vdr has a new home. http://projects.vdr-developer.org/projects/show/plg-pvrinput It's adapted to the latest changes of vdr (>= 1.7.13). For older versions the plugin-param-patch is still needed. Take a look at the README to adjust your channels.conf to the matching syntax of your vdr. http://projects.vdr-developer.org/repositories/entry/plg-pvrinput/README http://projects.vdr-developer.org/repositories/entry/plg-pvrinput/HISTORY I think, it's stable enough to be tested by you. :-) Use the new home page for documenting bugs you encounter. A short changelog: - the generated TS now contains valid PAT, PMT and PCR packets so streaming with streamdev-server now works in TS mode. The used PIDs are the same as in the TS of cx18 cards, so the vdr will not alter them in mixed environments. vpid: 301+101=2 ; apid: 300 ; tpid: 305 - the Hauppauge HD PVR is now supported but uses different PIDs as the cx18/ivtv cards. vpid: 4113+4097=27 ; apid: 0;4352 - for radio channels no more video packets are sent. If you use a PVR350 as output device make sure you have a recent version of the pvr350-plugin which generates black video on its own. - if you use a PVRUSB2 make sure you have the latest driver otherwise you can see occasionally no picture after a channel switch. The corresponding patch of pvrusb2 will be integrated in kernel 2.6.34. - if you experience stuttering video on switching channels you can tweak some buffers with some parameters in the setup.conf (stop your vdr before editing, of course) pvrinput.ReadBufferSizeKB = 64 // size of buffer for reader in KB (default: 64 KB) pvrinput.TsBufferSizeMB = 3 // ring buffer size in MB (default: 3 MB) pvrinput.TsBufferPrefillRatio = 0 // wait with delivering packets to vdr till buffer is filled up to x% If the default values don't make you happy, please report working values for your setup. Please report also your used input and output devices. Gentoo overlay vdr-devel + vdr-xineliboutput

Hi! (this may not be perfect forum for my question, but..) If I select to use Gentoo overlay vdr-devel to get vdr-1.7.19 I cannot use vdr-xineliboutput-1.0.5-r1 plugin because it's blocked for >=media-video/vdr-1.7 Why? Is there some reason? Because I have seen xineliboutput-plugin working at 1.7.18.. If mainstream gentoo distro wants to block vdr-1.7, should there be newer version of that plugin in vdr-devel overlay? -- JJussi

@Christian - Great - memory leak looks fixed - I attach a screenshot of memory use since Sunday. The peaks on the graph are from NX login sessions, otherwise the system is running at constant ~70% (vdr total is currently 1.6% = 32M). Thanks ! Fix for recording problem in VDR 1.7.20

There have been some reports about recording problems with VDR 1.7.20 on some HD channels. This patch should fix this. Bug in VDR which calls MsgOsdClear too often

Hi Klaus, i just realized that if you open an event osd MsgOsdClear is called too often. Example: * Open Main-OSD * Select Schedule * Select an Item Now vdr at first calls OsdCurrentItem(const char *Text) and some other items and then calls MsgOsdClear and then calls OsdTextItem(const char *Text, bool Scroll) . If I now want to save the information of this methods calls and forward it to the http-request in my restfulapi-plugin that the event-Title information is misssing because MsgOsdClear shouldn't have been called. I had a look into the vdr source and I thought the code should be in cMenuEvent but I couldn't find a call to MsgOsdClear. It would be really helpful if you have a look at this. Possible to add custom EPG data?

How difficult is it to add custom (additional) data to the epg.data file? For example, my satellite network broadcasts additional fields such as "original air date" and "repeat episode?", etc. Additional, how hard would this be to add to VDR Live (and epgsearch?)

Just looked at the trace I sent in my initial post and realised that I had selected a Diseqc command that I had modified while trying to diagnose the situation so my annotations < > were a bit misleading. The following should be less confusing: Diseqc command list found = t v [E0 10 38 F4] W500 [E0 31 6B 04] W250 [E1 31 6B 04] W15 T Diseqc action = 1 Diseqc action = 3 Diseqc action = 7 Sending Diseqc command: E1 31 6B 04 < Wrong, should be E0 10 38 F4 > Diseqc action = 7 Sending Diseqc command: E1 31 6B 04 < Wrong, should be E0 31 6B 04 > Diseqc action = 7 Sending Diseqc command: E1 31 6B 04 Diseqc action = 2 Again, the final Diseqc command has been sent three times, not the three commands in the sequence they appear in the command list. xine 1.2 vaapi

Does anyone know how one can enable vaapi in xine 1.2? I've got an AMD HD4200 motherboard graphics system working ok with MPlayer-vaapi. I have built FFMPEG with VAAPI but I don't know how to test if that works. I would like to watch UK FreeviewHD using Xineliboutput or Xine plugins. Thanks

VDR 1.7.20 - Incorrect Progress Bar Times for Radio Programmes

Progress bar display shows excessive times for radio programmes (no video). A recording of about 5 minutes starts at 5:22:13 and ends at 27404:47:54. The actual recording is fine. Recording is from BBC Radio 3 using DVB-T. ffmpeg -i shows: Input #0, mpegts, from '00001.ts': Duration: 00:05:06.12, start: 38666.622211, bitrate: 225 kb/s Program 132 Stream #0.0[0x1b6](eng): Audio: mp2, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 192 kb/s I see the same playing with dvbhddevice or xineliboutput. Recordings made with previous versions of vdr (including 1.7.19 with suggested reversion to 1.7.18 recording code) display correct times playing with 1.7.20. Chris

May it be possible to use a fullfeature cards as output device only ?

Hi, the tuner part of my fullfeatured card ist broken, so I want to buy a nova card and use this fullfeatured card as output device only. At the moment vdr tries to use this card also as receiver. So may it be possible to tell vdr it should use this card only for output ? -- Best regards Dieter -- I do not get viruses because I do not use MS software. If you use Outlook then please do not put my email address in your address-book so that WHEN you get a virus it won't use my address in the >From field.
