[ANNOUNCE] VDR developer version 1.7.7

VDR developer version 1.7.7 is now available at ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/vdr/Developer/vdr-1.7.7.tar.bz2 A 'diff' against the previous version is available at ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/vdr/Developer/vdr-1.7.6-1.7.7.diff WARNING: ======== This is a *developer* version. Even though *I* use it in my productive environment. I strongly recommend that you only use it under controlled conditions and for testing and debugging. IMPORTANT: ========== If you use a full featured DVB card for replay you need the DVB driver version from http://linuxtv.org/hg/~endriss/v4l-dvb in order to replay TS recordings! Users of full featured DVB cards also need to use a new firmware, available at http://www.escape-edv.de/endriss/firmware Note that the header files in the latest driver versions may be broken. If you get compiler error messages like /usr/include/sys/types.h:52: error: conflicting declaration 'typedef __ino64_t ino_t' /usr/include/linux/types.h:14: error: 'ino_t' has a previous declaration as 'typedef __kernel_ino_t ino_t' when compiling VDR, you need to put the driver header files back to how they were before they got broken. One way of doing this is to apply the patch from ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/vdr/Developer/v4l-dvb-header-fix.diff (I'm not claiming that this is the right way to fix this, since the driver developers may have had good reasons for making that change. However, both the driver and VDR compile and work fine with this). The changes since version 1.7.6: - The new function cDevice::GetVideoSize() returns the size and aspect ratio of the video material currently displayed. This function is used to determine the proper size of the OSD. Plugin authors should implement this function in classes derived from cDevice, if they are able to replay video. - The OSD and font sizes are now defined in percent of the actual video display size. The maximum OSD size has been raised to 1920x1080, to allow full screen OSD on HD systems. - The OSD size is now automatically adjusted to the actual video display (provided the output device implements the GetVideoSize() function). - cFrameDetector::Analyze() now syncs on the TS packet sync bytes (thanks to Oliver Endriss for reporting broken index generation after a buffer overflow). [iptv] [input_vdr] No data in 8 seconds, queuing no signal image

Dear list, I am trying to set up IPTV for German public stations. They provide the multicast addresses [1]. I have to use the Hansenet ones. They also provide playlists for VLC and MPlayer [2]. I used VLC to watch some channels and that worked quite OK, if the modem has synced correctly(?), i. e. has a good connection. With VLC it stuttered every 5 seconds with some channels. I followed [3] and the README.Debian of the vdr-plugin-iptv package from [4]. I came up with the following. $ cat /etc/vdr/channels.conf […] :@1000 New channels Das-Erste;IPTV:10:IPTV|S0P0|EXT|vlc2iptv|1:P:0:2:3:0:0:1:0:0:0 $ cat /etc/vdr/plugins/iptv/vlcinput/Das-Erste.conf URL="rtp://233.51.128.19:1234" VPID=2 APID=3 SPID=4 I start VDR with the following command. $ sudo vdr -P iptv -P xineliboutput -l3 Then I get a black screen with the information/sender name IPTV. After some more seconds I get a NO STREAM/SIGNAL screen. You can find the output written to syslog at the end of this message. I use the following versions of the sofware. $ vdr --version vdr (1.6.0-2/1.6.0) - The Video Disk Recorder iptv (0.2.5) - Experience the IPTV xineliboutput (1.0.90-cvs) - X11/xine-lib output plugin Can you give me a hint on what I made wrong or what might be the problem. xineliboutput/vdr-sxfe and lirc (vdr 1.7.5)

I'm getting xineliboutput with vdr-sxfe going after a few months successfully running xineui. So far so good, but some of my remote keys do not work. In particular the Backup key. For xineui I have this (which works) in my .lircrc begin remote = Hauppauge button = Back/Exit prog = xine repeat = 0 config = VDRBack end but I suppose "xine" is not the right value for vdr-sxfe ? I have tried vdr-sxfe and had a look in xine_frontend_lirc.c but I'm none the wiser. -- Scott

1.7.x seem to support pause live tv out of the box, I certainly have not applied any patches to make it happen, and unfortunately there is no option to turn it on and off as it would be best (Klaus, any chance to have pause live tv as a menu option that can be switched on or off?) Any chance it can be added to the core as orj is a kind of virtual language and in most cases it does equal to English... Also one little thing that is driving me crazy. My 3 years old daughter presses accidentally the Pause button and starts al l sort of instant recordings silenty, my wife then complains vdr is broken because she can´t change channels. What I am asking for is for some possibility to make the instant recording ask for confirmation before starting the instant recording. The problem is even worse as we could actually be watching a DVD or an .avi file outside vdr (but with vdr running in the background to allow for recordings and so on) and pause the movie and lirc always helpful will send the pause comm and to vdr as well so I end up with even more undesired recordings.

removing the pause key from remote.conf is not a proper solution as when watching a recording I like to pause it sometimes. In truth is not only my kids that press the pause key but my wife or myself when using mplayer to watch an .avi file. Yes I could map the vdr pause key somewhere else as a workaround but I ask, doesn´t anybody know how to patch the code to simply either: a) Disable the pause live tv feature all together (not the pause recording playback) --- or --- b)Enable a confirmation dialog before the pause live tv kicks in If I knew how to code option b I would go for that but I would settle for o ption a

New version of the Webvideo plugin is available at http://users.tkk.fi/~aajanki/vdr/webvideo/ The Webvideo plugin is a tool for browsing and downloading videos from popular video sharing websites, such as YouTube and Google video, using VDR menu interface or a command line client. With the help of xineliboutput plugin the videos can be played directly without downloading them first. Changes: 2009-05-05: Version 0.1.4 - Updated Italian translation (thanks to Diego Pierotto) - Config file for webvi for defining player programs and the address of the daemon - Streaming now reverts back to lower quality video if high quality version is not available (like downloading already did before) Video site modules: - Support for a new video site: Metacafe - Youtube: adapted parsing to comply with recent changes on Youtube. Best practices for running vdr-xine

I have a bit of a problem running xine frontend – it will not reconnect if vdr backend restarts. Also, my vdr can take 10-15secs just to start up, and xine frontend will bail out during that time, too. Since frontend is being run on unattended TV box (read: no keyboard) it is cumbersome to restart xine every time this happens. Second problem: xine does not work with vdr mplayer plugin (mplayer cannot access X, hence no video). Are there any alternatives? I wonder if there are any solutions for this? I’m back to using softdevice, but it does not compile with latest ffmpeg, plus segfaults every now and then. Peter

vdr 1.7.7 possible playback bug?

Playing back a recording (recorded with vdr 1.7.6 in case it matters) with vdr 1.7.7 at random intervals I experience the following: The screen freezes, the remote control doesn´t respond to any commands an d I need to kill xine and restart the vdr daemon to get things back on track. Playing the same .ts file on mplayer shows no problems The recording was from this channel: Antena 3;Digital+:10877:VM2O0S0:S19.2E:22000:160=2:80=esl:32:100,1810:30610:1: 1060:0
