Compiling xineliboutput frontends only

I want to try VDPAU, replacing as few Debian packages as possible although I did have to rebuild the Debian package for vdr to add h264 and Freesat EPG patches. I've got as far as building svn ffmpeg and hg xine-lib, now I need to build vdr-sxfe, and I think I need an xvdr plugin for xine from xineliboutput too. Is it fairly easy to compile just those components without having to set up a configured VDR source tree, and if so, how? -- TH * http://www.realh.co.uk

Choice of recording format

I was just wondering what prompted the move from recording in PES to TS. Is it because TS is more widely supported? And how does it solve the problem of BBC HD having the wrong PID for audio? And why TS instead of PS? Is it because PS needs a header which is difficult to generate before all the packets intended for it are available (and hence difficulties overlapping playback and recording)? Or is it because the way recordings are played back makes TS more appropriate? -- TH * http://www.realh.co.uk

info about contributors plugin

Hi, since most part of applications use an "About" or "Info" option in the main menu to show the contributors for translation and developers i wanted to know if there is a plugin that once selected can show the contributors of the installed plugins. I know the each plugin has a different way to keep the maintained contributor (HISTORY, README, CONTRIBUTORS files) but sometimes is invisible for most part of users that simply install from the binary packages. Color keys replacement

Hi all, A question regarding the color keys functionality in VDR. Some remotes I see in shops don't have the color keys, is there any replacement key for those? Is it possible to map them to 1,2,3,4? Can you think of a scenario both color keys and numbers might be used in the same menu? Thanks.

Hi, there seems to be problem in pausing replays of new recordings (output to FF). 4 out of 5 times vdr freezes when trying to continue the replay. Poll in PlayVideo runs into a timeout and a new write gives EAGAIN. This does not happen with old recordings. Most likely splitting long PES-packets not on frame-boundaries prevents the FF-driver from finding a good start-point after DvbDevice->Freeze(). A rough workaround is attached, but maybe the idea to dump the old remux code was not the best one, as long as the FF and some plugins need PES-output. Replaying TS with VLC gives lots of TS discontinuities for PID 0 and 132. Attached is a fix. Regards Johann

In my case, I use the vdr-xine plugin and start Xine the following way: /usr/bin/xine -V xv -f -D --post vdr_video --post vdr_audio --post upmix_mono --post vdr --verbose=2 vdr:/tmp/vdr-xine/stream#demux:mpeg_pes Make sure you edit $HOME/.xine/config and edit the following items: video.processing.ffmpeg_choose_speed_over_accuracy:1 video.processing.ffmpeg_pp_quality:0 video.processing.ffmpeg_skip_loop_filter:all video.processing.ffmpeg_thread_count:4 The thread_count should be the number of CPU's you have (in my case it's four).
