[PATCH] vdr-burn-0.1.0_pre21 using correct charset with >=vdr-1.5.3

Hi there! The attached patch lets vdr-burn-0.1.0_pre21 use the correct charset that vdr itself uses. This stops vdr-burn to double utf8 encode texts. Matthias -- Matthias Schwarzott (zzam)

vdr-1.5.3 - issue with translations out of plugins

Hi Klaus, I just installed vdr-1.5.3, but lcdproc plugin caused vdr to crash on startup. I figured out that the problem is the translation of the string "Volume ". Unlike the other strings that are used by the plugin this string is provided by the vdr-core i18n.c This worked fine in vdr-1.5.1. Adding a dummy translation of "Volume " directly in the plugins i18n.c "fixed" the crash. Is this the intended behaviour? Or was this a feature by accident? ;-) Regards, Joachim.

Hello! Does vdr-ttxtsubs plugin work with any of the latest vdr developer versions? softdevice with menu&audio but no video

I've recently built my first linuxfromscratch system to use as a base for a vdr-box with a budget card and all had gone well. I'm using ffmpeg 0.4.9-pre1 from the lfs website with the softdevice plugin. The problem is that although I can hear the channel playing and I can see and use the vdr menus using softdevice I can't view the actual program wether or not it's live or recorded. The terminal gives the "initializing the mpeg decoder" message but no error messages. I'm grateful for any help.

Premiere UTF-8 fix for VDR 1.5.1+

Hi all, Here is a small patch for all Premiere watchers who want to use UTF-8 encoding. The patch simply changes the default character set that is used when no encoding is broadcasted. Kind regards, Stefan

softdevice->vidix->nvidiafb

Hi, Can please someone give my some advices how to get the best Quali out of my nvidia card (nv17>) with softdevice? A few day ago I tried to load nvidiafb and installed latest vidix stuff. Do I need nvidiafb for vidix? What kind of video out you can recommend in this case? Thanks Halim

[vdr-1.5.5][Patch] inc/dec character not working for ÄÖÜ in non-UTF8

Hi Klaus, Found a bug in VDR-1.5.5 in non-UTF8 mode. In any text field, when the cursor is on an uppercase non-ASCII character like ÄÖÜ, the up/down key jumps directly to A. The core problem is that the non-UTF8 version of Utf8ToArray sign-extends chars to uints, turning the ä of the allowed chars into 0xFFFFFFE4, while the towlower() of the edit control changes the Ä into 0x000000E4, which is then not in the list of allowed characters. Lowercase works, since here everything stays sign-extended. The attached patch changes Utf8ToArray to properly extend chars as unsigned. Xineliboutput and Lirc forwarding

Hi, I've recently decided to try xineliboutput over my usual choice of xine plugin. So far I've pretty happy with it but can't for the life of me get the lirc forwarding to work. Lirc is installed, the controller is setup and tested to work (it's an mceusb2). Vdr is compiled with lirc support, when I start it the lircd reports that a client connected to the device. I copied the example remote.conf from xineliboutput to vdr's config directory. When I start vdr-sxfe with --lirc and --verbose it starts and shows me the tv. When I click 'up' on the remote (which is one of the buttons configured in the example remote.conf) VDR does nothing, a look at the console shows that vdr-sxfe caught the lirc call and dealt with it. It seems it's not getting to vdr. It's the same with any button I press, whether it's in remote.conf or not. The keyboard (also configured in the remote.conf example) works fine and I can control VDR perfectly with it. Have I missed a step? The instructions regarding the use of lirc with xineliboutput were pretty short. Any help greatfully appreciated. Let me know if you need me to provide any config files, etc. Cheers, Alex

Freeview Playback

Hi, with the launch of Freeview Playback in the UK, I was wondering if anyone here knew how the series links were sent to the dvb box. Freeview Playback is a system by which series link information is sent to the dvb box, allowing someone to select to record a whole series. Some sort of link information is sent, I guess in the epg, about each episode so that the dvb box can be sure it's always recording unique episodes of a series. I thought that support for Freeview Playback would be an excellent addition to plugins like epgsearch. If anyone knows any more about how the system works or has the DTG specification (can't see it on their website) please let me know. Cheers, Alex
