There might be multiple smartcards which are attached to Conax modules. In other words VDR needs to know if you have 2 CICAM slots, 2 Conax modules and 2 different smartcards, to which smartcard direct the ECM question. And that is what the CA id field is about. CA field 1 means channel is tied to DVB CARD 1 If you put it to 0, VDR (1.3.x with autopid) should auto sense the needed value. And VDR writes it to channels.conf. Then VDR should see which DVB card can decrypt requested channel. Best regards, Jori

VDSB error when recording with FF with CAM

I have also got the infamous VDSB error. Searched like mad but I can't find anyone with exactly the same error as me, that is why the new thread. I have an FF card, a Skystar1 ver 1.5 with a Technotrend PCI CI and a Conax CAM. When I record an encrypted channel and I change to a different channel I see the following in the logs: cAudioRepacker(0xC0): skipped xxx bytes to sync on next audio frame After a few seconds I get the Video Data Stream Broken error and VDR exits. I only get this cAudioRepacker message while recording, if I only watch live tv there is no problem. Also there is no problem to record an FTA channel. I also noticed that I don't experience this problem on channels with same APID. I tested to set the same APID on two channels that experience this problem, and then it worked. But I assume that would have caused the audio to stop working. I'm not home at the moment so I can only remote control it via vdradmin. I have tried running different kernel version, 2.6.12.6 and 2.6.13.3, have also tested with different firmwares and both with CVS drivers and the built in kernel driver, have tried with VDR 1.3.32 and VDR 1.3.34 with no patches or plugins, but always with the same problem.... Can someone please advice what to do? I'm running out of ideas myself. Thanks! Best regards, Daniel

FF vs Budget cards ??

Hi. I'm using a Hauppauge Nova-T budget card under VDR. It works like a charm - can record one and view multiple channels in the same transponder at once. Is this also the case with FF cards? With their 'onboard' mp2 decoder, do they also allow recording of multiple channels? How does this work? Are the mp2 decoder and 'tuner' separate on the card, and can VDR dump some streams to disk as well as using the decoder? Just curious - before I shell out some ££!! Thanks Simon

The softplay plugin missing some essential features(forwarding/rewinding etc.) to be usable and it does not play some files as well as mplayer. I'm not sure if it's the issue with softplay or with ffmpeg library on my system but mplayer plays them much better. Obviously the author of softplay is trying to re-invent the wheel, whats the point of creating another player, isn't more efficient to fix already existing player to work with softdevice?

There seems to be two layers, OSD and Video one, and it seems that VDR can't use OSDs layer on softdevice when mplayer is active. There might be very easy fix/workaround but I'm no programmer and I might be wrong about whole layer thing. Just trying to figure out why its not working.

Hi, I'm trying to tune fta(free to air) feeds with VDR. Feeds are temporaly channels for an event that usually have low freqüencies. To tune them I try to add or edit channels in my list. But I only know this for example: 30W (hispasat) frequency: 11538 polarization: H sr 6100 Some of this feeds are in 422 format. I have a nexus-s dvb-s FF card. My question is if there is a method to force the pid update of a channel because I don't know this data. I know the update names and pid option of the dvb card configuration but I don't know exactly how works. It seems that I have to wait VDR to update all channels. Thanks.
