vdradmin-0.96 patch: store channel-id into auto timers

Hi, Here is a small patch which modifies vdradmin to store channel id into auto timer entries (instead of channel number). This way auto timer channels will not get messed up when moving channels in VDR. http://tvr.dy.fi/vdradmin-0.96_For_vdr-1.3_StoreAutotimerChannelID_And_E ventIdCheckDisable.diff This patch also includes my earlier vdradmin -patch for vdr-1.3, and disables EPG event-id check from all timers created by vdradmin. Let me know if it doesn't work. You might want to backup your vdradmind.at -file just in case before trying... Teemu

to use a current theme color in a plugin

hallo all I'm like to make dynamic the color of my plugin using the current set theme. I have read the PLUGIN.html but i understand that with this three line of c++ code i can set a clrTitle color and then i can use it: static cTheme Theme; THEME_CLR(Theme, clrTitle, 0xFFBC8024); int clrBackwindow = Theme.Color(clrTitle); I don't wont to redefine the color, but i want to use the actual theme color... Please help me

Dropping support for '-icam' firmware

Is any VDR user still using the so-called '-icam' firmware for full featured DVB cards? That's the "old" firmware that handled CAMs directly, without any control from the application. The recommended "new" firmware has "link layer" CAM support built in, which allows the application to have full control over the CAM. Most likely everybody nowadays uses the new firmware, so I'd like to drop support for the '-icam' version from VDR. Note that this only affects users with CAMs - if you don't have a CAM, this is of no meaning to you. Klaus

Problems with 20 Timers

Hi all, I've managed to import EPG data for 2-3 weeks in advance. The trouble is I use epgsearch to automatically create timers to record a couple of series. This leads me to have around 20 active timers. It seems that the more timers you have the slower VDR (1.3.21) becomes. I normally get "max. latency time 2 seconds" in my syslog, however when I have 20 timers, I get "max. latency time 17 seconds". What's causing it to slow down so much? I've tried removing all plugins but if I leave the timers, I still get this long latency and the OSD becomes really slow. Any ideas? Chris

I think I installed the wrong requant for dvd burn, but for the last three weeks I have been unable to get to their website to get the "correct" version, if only to check it against what I have. This is the (updated) 'official' vdr-mailing-list-etiquette-reminder. Please take this as a serious advise. The VDR mailinglist is getting quite large and it shouldn't become a pain in the ass to follow. Take the time to read it, especially if you are new to mailinglists in general. E-mail formatting ================= Mailing list email should fit the following criteria: DO -- * Trim quoted material to the minimum needed to clarify what you're talking about. * Add a blank line _before_ and _after_ each quote for better readability. * Make sure you are attributing material to the correct person (i.e. make sure the "On 19/07/2002, Joe Bloggs said:" is correct) * Write your responses _after_ the quoted text, not before. If your mail client makes it difficult to do this, get a new one. * Make sure lines are wrapped at maximum 76 characters (to fit an 80 character wide screen), even if the text had been quotet several times. * Use ">" at start of line to mark quoted text. * Set your mail client to "english headers" to avoid subjects like: "AW: Antwort: Re: AW: AW: AW: Re: Some Topic allready trunkated" If you see one, don't just add another "Re:" but remove all "AW:" and other chained "Re:". * Use a descriptive subject! A message titled "A small wish" doesn't tell what it is about. And cap is very short to download content from computer network. Both are sort of time shifting. Also TV faces more competition from gaming industry. I have read that youth plays more than watch TV. So perhaps one day we log on to studio's site, and download episode of your favorite TV-series (already dubbed to German by studio :-) and subtitles for all languages. And all in HD format protected by DRM, and you can watch episode when suitable to you. Why you have to wait in Europe 1 year for that episode to be broadcasted. It is reality today, you can have it from Internet after episode has aired in US. And naturally in HD format. Moves towards this direction is taken on music side if we compare FM/DVB radio and iTunes.. "I want my favorite song now". You could poll radio and record song from there when and if it airs. I think it is dream world because broadcasters do already up/downsample to their own picture standard. And I don't believe that is going to change. Euro1080 (or HD-1 nowadays) broadcasts with 50Hz all material. But I am against of up/downsampling. IMHO is much better to adapt display frequency to content, not vice versa (content to display). This way we could see 1080p24 material as good quality as possible, and for example not 1080i50 with 4% PAL-speedup, which changes also audio pitch. Or video judders for down converting 60i to 50i. You are right, set top box must be able to adapt content also, if display won't support 24p/48i mode, then it must be adapted to 50/60. I have find it difficult to find proper settings for high quality playback. Best have been (on windows side) using 72,75 and 90 Hz frame rates (adapted for content: cinema, pal or ntsc) and with directshow reclock-plugin. With this I've been able to eliminate judder from videos, or sound jumps. But immediately when source is 24fps and monitor is 75Hz, picture or sound jumps. unknown picture type?

Hi! About once a week I get this errors in syslog: Feb 25 20:01:19 server vdr[20828]: ERROR: unknown picture type '6' Feb 25 20:01:20 server vdr[20828]: ERROR: unknown picture type '7' Feb 25 20:01:21 server vdr[20828]: ERROR: unknown picture type '4' Feb 25 20:01:22 server vdr[20828]: ERROR: unknown picture type '7' Feb 25 20:01:23 server vdr[20828]: ERROR: unknown picture type '7' Feb 25 20:01:39 server vdr[20828]: ERROR: unknown picture type '5' Feb 25 20:01:42 server vdr[20828]: ERROR: unknown picture type '4' Feb 25 20:01:51 server vdr[20828]: ERROR: unknown picture type '7' Feb 25 20:01:52 server vdr[20828]: ERROR: unknown picture type '6' Feb 25 20:02:09 server last message repeated 3 times ... The recordings during this errors are "junk". I can't view this recordings. After stopping VDR and unloading the dvb-drivers the errors are gone. I searched with Google for this problem and found only the workaround to restart (automatically) VDR when this happens. Some folks also wrote that a bad singal from satellite could be the reason, but the femon-plugin shows this values: STR: 67% SNR: 88% BER: 0 UNC: 0 Are this bad values? (I don't think so.) What is the reason for the "unknown picture type"? I use Kernel 2.6.10, the DVB-drivers which come with 2.6.10 and VDR 1.2.26 on Gentoo-Linux with two FF Hauppauge Nexus-S-cards (rev2.1).
