No output via xineliboutput with VDR 1.7.21

Hi, I have just tried installing VDR 1.7.21 (from Fedora RawHide), with the xineliboutput plugin from its git repository. I have managed to get xine to connect to VDR (I think - after I had added 127.0.0.1 to the allowed_hosts.conf file), but I am not receiving any output in the xine window. VDR seems to be processing events from my remote, and the channels all seem to have tuned in too - even the HD ones. But it's no good without either a picture or sound. Does anyone have any ideas, please? Thanks, Chris

Garbage time and date

I have set my VDR to update the system clock and this has been working well for many years now. However I recently had a problem with my DVB-T antenna system causing bad reception and it really screwed up the system clock, ocasionally changing to the wrong date and time. I verified this by looking at the system log. I thought DVB packets were checked for integrity with a checksum. How could this happen? Could it be that the shear volume of corrupted packets means that a simple checksum is not robust enough? Thanks

vdr 1.7.21 and no audio, video or epg

Hi, I restartet my gentoo vdr machine after some weeks and now I don't have a video or audio, just the OSD. I also get no epg data, the machine is running for some hours, but no epg at all. Femon tells me, that I got a signal and a lock. Playback of old recodings works fine. Some specs: vdr 1.7.21 kernel 2.6.39-gentoo-r3 TechnoTrend Premium S2-6400 SAA716x FF firmware version 0.3.4 dvbhddevice 0.0.4 Debug log is activated but I don't see any error or warnings! dmesg is also clean ... Does anyone have and idea, because I am lost in space ... ;) Best regards, Magnus

Hi, I am very interested in that, because I subscribe to a "S F R" TVBOX service that provided a (netgem) receiver very slow and does not allow the recording and backup to another media like a usb key... Recently I tested the TV channels using vdr-1.7.21 with iptv-0.4.2 without "disable_ca_updates" and "disable_eitscan" patches and it works perfectly but only with FTA channels. I saw also that updates pids automatically from udp multicast ip address. Quality issues

I am having problems with the image in vdr-sxfe, and initially I thought it was an issue with the settings relayting to video, but now I feel more confident that the root cause is in the DVB stream - which means it might be slightly off topic for this list if that is the case. What I see from time to time (every ~5 minutes) is that an old image (from a few seconds ago) is suddenly displayed and then 'fades' away. Just how much corruption I get varies with vide osettings, but I can never get rid of it. Then I figured I'd do a recoding and replay a sequence which on live TV caused the corruption. And the corruption is repeatable whenever I pass that point in the recording. Now it seems more like an issue of how the video decorder handles errors in the stream, but I would still like som help. Either in figuring out what causes the errors or dimish the impact on the picture. At https://tyldum.com/vdr/00001.ts you can find a sample stream, and I get the corruption at 0:33-ish. Source is DVB-C, using mantis-based tuner. femon reports 92% STR, 96% SNR and sometimes I see 1 in the BER counter. VDR version 1.7.17, packaged for yaVDR. Launching vdr + xineliboutput at startup

Hello I'm making some kind of embedded vdr distribution based on busybox and minimal X11, the problem is I have no idea of how I can launch vdr and xineliboutput at startup. For now, I'm doing manually : # xinit /usr/bin/rxvt then type : # vdr -Pxineliboutput I tried to type directly : # xinit /usr/local/bin/vdr -Pxineliboutput but vdr just displays its logo, with no error in /var/log/messages though. I can still launch vdr with : # xinit /usr/bin/rxvt -e /usr/local/bin/vdr -Pxineliboutput but it's not very elegant. What's the trick ? Thanks Damien

Wanted VDR xineliboutput client

Hi! Any suggestions for small, powerful, quiet, FullHD VDR client? So, I search machine what would act as VDR-client, using xineliboutput with FullHD resolution and machine would have DVI or HDMI connection + optical audio. Of course remote control is needed too! ;-) -- JJussi

reencode/transcode to(!) vdr

Hello, can anybody please point me to some examples how to transcode/reencode to vdr format (ts or pes if necessary)? I found a lot of convert scripts, mencoder commandlines, ... to transcode from vdr to eg mp4. Unfortunatly I could not find anything for the opposite direction :-( How can I go the other way round (to view external files in vdr with the same comfort as native recordings) or reencode recordings (to compress pes and ts mpeg recordings to h264 with lower resolution - you don't need full picture quality on an archive of political discussions for example). I could not find a mencoder option to output ts. I guess i need to encode with mencoder and then remux with some other tool? Thanks for any link Michael
