I just installed VDR fresh on a debian machine (also fresh install). I followed hooch's step by step procedure, including downloading and installing the script that switches the install to support NTSC. But when I run VDR, I get a scrolling black screen with the date/time on the right, and the test VDR startup sequence for a brief moment in the middle. I am assuming that it is still in PAL. Hardware is a Hauppauge Nexus-S Rev 2.3

I can also help if you have questions, I've installed vdr a few days ago on an unstable debian system (no crashes yet ;) ). I used
# Tobi's Experimental VDR Repository (multipatch) deb http://e-tobi.net/vdr-experimental sarge base addons vdr-multipatch
don't forget to add
Package: * Pin: release o=e-tobi.net Pin-Priority: 1001
to /etc/apt/preferences !
only thing is that I don't have channel logos, but I will try to fix that too.
bye
