Best practices for running vdr-xine

I have a bit of a problem running xine frontend – it will not reconnect if vdr backend restarts. Also, my vdr can take 10-15secs just to start up, and xine frontend will bail out during that time, too. Since frontend is being run on unattended TV box (read: no keyboard) it is cumbersome to restart xine every time this happens. Second problem: xine does not work with vdr mplayer plugin (mplayer cannot access X, hence no video). Are there any alternatives? I wonder if there are any solutions for this? I’m back to using softdevice, but it does not compile with latest ffmpeg, plus segfaults every now and then. Peter

vdr 1.7.7 possible playback bug?

Playing back a recording (recorded with vdr 1.7.6 in case it matters) with vdr 1.7.7 at random intervals I experience the following: The screen freezes, the remote control doesn´t respond to any commands an d I need to kill xine and restart the vdr daemon to get things back on track. Playing the same .ts file on mplayer shows no problems The recording was from this channel: Antena 3;Digital+:10877:VM2O0S0:S19.2E:22000:160=2:80=esl:32:100,1810:30610:1: 1060:0

hi the logo from xinelibout is distorted in the upper left corner. so i make a patch witch is transparent and in korrect aspect ratio. see attached patch. stefan

This is a really nice feature with Diseqc switches but not with rotors where it scares my wife when the dish moves alone at 3 in the morning (and probably annoy my neightbours too) So my humble request for Klaus: Diseq commands of type E0 31 6B or E0 31 6E (for gotoX) should only be actually sent on channels zapping, not for idle tasks.

Finaly I use these parameters : Use section filtering : yes Disable filters : 0 and, as Klaus say, I have change all channels with stream type = 27 (0x1B). Now I can record all channels.
