help needed using two dishes

Hello all, I'm a bit lost when I wonder how can I use my two dishes (one motorized) in my vdr server at same time. Right now I'm using an static dish to astra but I want to add the motorized one (currently connected to a decoder) to the installation. I have a 1.6 vdr server with 4 tuners (2 dvb-s, 2 dvb-t) serving to three media mvp clients. Sorry if the following question is an offtopic, but I need to resolve it. I understand that the physical installation only requires a diseqc between the dishes and the vdr tuners. Is this correct? For the software, which plugins or patches have I to use? I have seen the rotor plugin and the gotox patch, but I don't know if they are up to date and usable with 1.6. Anyone can me point me on that? Thank you very much. Leo

LIVE: Missing streams for recordings

Dear list, I was amazed how easy a Linux VDR can be set up, using (in my case) Sidux (recent Debian sid packages). I installed several plugins, and especially LIVE is what we need to have remote access via LAN. There was no problem to use the online EPG in order to time recordings. Also, it is possible to watch current streams of any channel. But as it comes to finished recordings, we miss a button that would open vlc[plugin] and give the corresponding stream. Do we need extra settings/plugins? Sorry for being less detailed, but I have to describe our problem from memory. Extra question: Is there a way to use specific PAM-modules for login or, at least, create additional users (rather than giving away "admin" account to anybody)? Thanks Ralf.

How do I get audio description with VDR

Hi everyone. I've just joined this list and am totally blind. I can listen to Freeview TV and radio channels through my Nebula Electronics USB receiver and VDR, but would like to receive audio description as well. I've heard that VDR can do this, but I haven't been able to find any information on how to set it up. If anyone could advise me, I'd very much appreciate it. Many thanks for your help. John Robinson

Hi, attached file: skinenigmang-0.1.0-jlac-corners-090502.diff - change rounds corners to squares corners. attached file: skinenigmang-0.1.0-jlac-logos-090502.diff - replace xpm format by logos in 256colors and jpeg - simplify the logo filenames on disk: at runtine make it lower case, without space, without underscore.... so avoid many times the same logo file (or symbolic link) on the disk - add a svdr command to check the name logos - theme added (grey/white/black) Regards, JLac

No EIT for channel Yesterday

By Yesterday I don't mean the day before today, I mean a channel on Freeview, the UK's DVB-T network :). VDR doesn't seem to be able to get the EIT data for the Yesterday channel. The code I've written for boxstar can grab it OK, so I don't think there's anything special about the channel. Does VDR try to scan the EIT for programmes on other frequencies as well as the currently tuned one? Boxstar does. Perhaps VDR doesn't, and this channel doesn't carry its own EIT for some reason. Freesat has some weird quirks like that (as well as using non-standard PIDs) but I thought Freeview was a lot more conventional. -- TH * http://www.realh.co.uk

xineliboutput vs xine-vdr plugin

Am wondering if the xineliboutput is a tad better thant xine-vdr w/ xine patched for vdpau? I currently use the latter, with the advantage that I can stop xine in order to run xbmc and possibly toggle between them using a lirc hotkey setup, all the while vdr runs all the time in the background for eventual recordings, but it seems that xineliboutput might have some more advanced features wrt cropping etc? -- -Tor

[vdr] 1.7.9 patches Thanks for the link Goga The extensions patch there applied clean to vdr 1.7.9 but then enabling SETUP = 1 and TTXTSUBS = 1 results in errors. Did somebody manage to have somehow vdr 1.7.9 with SETUP and TTXTSUBS working?

Thanks for the ttxtsubs patch for vdr 1.7.9 Anybody has a vdr-1.7.9_extensions.diff patch? Or a setup plugin patch for vdr 1.7.9
