can't get xine plugin to work

I've installed the vdr-xine plugin "2005-02-13: Version 0.7.1" When xine starts I can see some vdr references : xine --verbose=2 load_plugins: plugin /usr/local/lib/xine/plugins/1.0.0/post/xineplug_post_vdr.so found load_plugins: plugin /usr/local/lib/xine/plugins/1.0.0/xineplug_inp_vdr.so found but when vdr starts, there's an error. I've complied a new version of VDR. Am running FC3 and executed the following just as a test : [root@nzbaxters vdr-1.3.21test]# cat $LANG en_GB.iso8859-1 export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 export LC_CTYPE="en_GB@euro" ulimit -Sc1000000000 ./vdr vdr: please turn off UTF-8 before starting VDR Is UTF-8 being referenced somewhere else?

scan sat / update channels.conf

hi all, i want to scan sat to generate an update channels.conf for vdr, "usage: scan [options...] [-c | initial-tuning-data-file] " if i use "-c" scan current transponder, when i don't know how to scan all transpornder, i must precise "initial-tuning-data-file", but i dont know what to give for astra or hotbird. please help olfax No virus found in this outgoing message. This is the first time I'v tried to get VDR working. Have a budget card (with no decoder) so had to extend xine with the vdr plugins. This seems to be working. when I run "xine --verbose=2" I can see the vdr drivers being loaded. Next step get VDR working I've followed all the xine plugin directions and got as far as ./runvdr "'-Pxine -r'" in the INSTALL [root@nzbaxters VDR]# ./runvdr "'-Pxine -r'" /bin/sh: line 0: cd: /usr/src/linux-2.6.9-rc4: No such file or directory head: cannot open `/fifty/data/Packages/video/DVB/driver/DVB/include/linux/dvb/version.h' for reading: No such file or directory /bin/sh: line 0: cd: /usr/src/linux-2.6.9-rc4: No such file or directory Makefile:113: /fifty/data/Packages/video/DVB/driver/Rules.make: No such file or directory make: *** No rule to make target `/fifty/data/Packages/video/DVB/driver/Rules.make'. Stop. [root@nzbaxters VDR]# I'm not sure why it's trying to call linux-2.6.9-rc4 but suspect I needed to get a new VDR source and start again. Since first playing with all this I have moved from FC2 to FC3 and changed kernels several times, until getting the DVB card working properly (as tested with xine natively and mplayer, tzap, scan, etc etc). In looking for a new vdr source, saw the vdr-1.3.17-0.16.rpm was available, so rpm -Uvh'd it. I now have 1.2.6 complied and available in one directory, and 1.3.17 rpm'd and installed in /usr/bin When I try running the same commands: [root@nzbaxters bin]# pwd /usr/bin [root@nzbaxters bin]# ./runvdr "'-Pxine -r'" ./runvdr: line 32: cd: ../DVB/driver: No such file or directory make: *** No rule to make target `insmod'. Hello! Due to public demand I included DiSEqC support into the configurable LNB-sharing patch. This feature is beta and still needs testing. With HDTV material system is great.. :-) But just to note, your display cannot make HDTV 720p resolution. Native resolution is 1024x768, 720p is 1280x720. I'd say NVIDIA card has best acceleration (MPEG-playback) support for X servers. It includes 2048x2048 XV overlays for HDTV support if card is new enough (Geforce 3 I think is the oldest model, but I might be wrong). Lot of people are running with G400 series card, but I think it doesn't allow accelerated HDTV playback. Is the desktop > properly hidden? vdr-xine manages aspect ratios automatically. And on full screen mode desktop is hidden. I hope VDR could do aspect ratio thing this via signal tweaking (dreambox always 16:9-mode) or WSS-signals. My setup isn't the best, I run standard KDE desktop and it works. But it is a bit heavy system.. :-) Initial trials I made with TVWM which worked ok. You just need to make a decision how you want to drive your plasma TV: - 1080i, probably TV's deinterlacer generates progressive frames with low VDR cpu - 720p, xine has to make deinterlace => eats cpu cycles - native 1:1 resolution of plasma TV => same as 720p Also Europeans sucked at defining 50Hz HDTV-modes (IMHO), not neccessarily you TV-set supports that. Major HDTV material is 60Hz or 24fps, and now for us it needs to be downconverted, because it was decided by 'idiots'. With PAL we got a larger resolution with 50Hz system compared to NTSC on similar video bandwidth. But with 720p/50 or 1080i/50 we do not gain anything. Just degraded quality. Ok, enough whining. So your plasma might not support 1080i @ 50Hz, so euro-DVB video might judder. This information should be found on manual or net. SMPTE 296M-2001 (720p/50Hz) modeline is already archived at vdr mailing list. I also have SMPTE 274M timings (1080i/50). ATSC 60Hz modelines are available on multiple places at Net. [PATCH] vdr-1.3.21: keep language name on audio menu in transfer mode

The attached patch is a quick hack to keep the language names in the audio menu in transfer mode. I had to add a boolean in cPlayer because I don't think it's possible to do class introspection in C++ (in Object Pascal I'd just do an "if not Player is cTransferControl then ClrAvailableTracks"). Audio description wrong

Hi, I have seen that on a channel (hotbird, multivision 3), the audio descrition is in the wrong order : for the french channel it is "audio stereo eng" and for the english one it is "audio stereo fra". I don't know if it is a vdr bug or a bug in the info send by the provider, but I believe it could be usefull to add to the description the channel language ie "description" become "description (lang)". thanks Matthieu
