What are the usb-driver-quirks that you mention? Are they usb DVB devices that you have? I've just been having another go at getting software suspend to work on an Epia-based vdr system with vdr-xine. I can get it to suspend and resume fairly easily with a 2.6.12 kernel and the latest patch set form www.suspend2.net but I can't get the DVB drivers to play nicely! A suspend and restart brings it back up as it should and vdr starts but all I see is a black screen. I can change channel but I still get a black screen. I have yet to see if the DVB card (an old l64781 based Nova-T) is outputting a stream or not, and LIRC won't allow any connections after resuming (homebrew receiver). I have yet to try playing back a recording because it's a bit awkward without a remote! Has anyone had any luck with software suspend and this type of card or LIRC? Do I need to explicitly kill vdr and unload the drivers before suspending, and then reload and restart on startup? Cheers, Laz

How to debug a vdr segfault?

Hi, I used to run a vdr 1.2.6 based on Debian with Kernel 2.6.11.12 and a full-featured DVB-C card. That combination worked very stable and I had no complaints at all. Recently I added a Nova-T (new Conexant-based revision) DVB-T and upgraded to 2.6.12 which contains the new drivers to support it. Since then, my vdr segfaults every few minutes http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/linux-dvb/2005-June/002905.html The friendly folks at the DVB mailing list seen to think that it's not the card, another user reports it is stable for him http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/linux-dvb/2005-June/002903.html I tried as suggested to use vdr without runvdr http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/linux-dvb/2005-June/002908.html and it showed me the segfaults. I also tried to run it without the plugins, same problem. The card itself seems to work. I used the vanilla 2.6.12 kernel and the card was recognized. Before vdr crashes, I can switch channels, watch TV and it receives EPG data from the DVB-T channel, as well. How can I debug this problem? Is it the card, the kernel, the vdr version, the tv channel it tuned to? Thanks, Hanno

Hi I have messed up my VDR (installing FC4 and stupid mistake rm -rf VDR...) Is anyone going to record the MotoGP on BBC2 tomorrow? I miss this GP each year for one reason or another. If someone does record please contact me so that we can work something out. TIA Tony

Segmentation fault with image plugin

Hi, I try to debug a segmentation fault with the image plugin. I use debian sid, vdr 1.3.27 (vanilla) and image plugin 0.2.3 i compile vdr and plugins with : make all plugins VFAT=1 REMOTE=LIRC i also try with make all plugins VFAT=1 REMOTE=LIRC FFMPEG_STATIC=1 and ffmpeg 0.4.8 But, when i want to play picture, i always get : /dvb/vdr-1.3.27$ ./vdr -c /etc/vdr3 -P'image -C /etc/vdr3/plugins/imageplugin.sh' imageplugin.sh: called 'imageplugin.sh /perso/photo/cdr03/025/PICT0001.JPG /tmp/image/VW9QPn4.pnm 688 544 0 0 0' imageplugin.sh: jpegtopnm: WRITING PPM FILE imageplugin.sh: Success! Mouse and On-Screen Keyboard Support

Hi all, I'm working on a DIY digital pictureframe project and also trying to have it second as a VDR playback device. As it has a touchscreen, I'm wondering if anyone knows of any patches or plugins anyone has made in the past to support navigation through the menus using a mouse as this is what the touchscreen emulates. Also, has anyone ever tried writing a on-screen keyboard for text entry? I have a feeling the answer to both of these will be "no", but thought it best to check incase I was duplicating someone else's work. Many thanks, Chris

Hallo, I am loooking for the author of the CutterQueue and CutterBandwithLimit.patch Could you please create a version of the CutterBandwithLimit.patch for vdr-1.2.x ? Thanks in advance :) I would like to use the CutterBandwithLimit.patch with vdr-1.2.5 so that it would make vdrcutter2 go a bit easyer on the resources. Thus keep VDR reaction nicely while cutting in the background using my AutoCutter scripts. Air/SkyStar2 IRQ stop (partial) fix

Hi list, after some time of investigation the no-data problem of the flexcop-pci-driver (f.k.a skystar2-driver) is fixed (partially at least). Short problem description: after some time stressing the card with (re)tuning (e.g. as a slave card in VDR doing EPG/channels-scan) the card stops to producing interrupts and thus delivers not data anymore. I could only do tests with an old AirStar card which is not really reliable, because most of the affected cards are SkyStar2 DVB-S and I don't have easy access to DVB-S. I highly encourage everyone who suffered/ is suffering from this issue to either try current CVS of dvb-kernel (requires 2.6.12) or to checkout CVS from 2005-06-18 and apply this patch [1] (runs with 2.6.9/10/11). (cvs co -D 2005-06-18 dvb-kernel or cvs up -D 2005-06-18) Please report your results. Thank you and good luck ;). best regards, Patrick.
