[ANNOUNCE] Proxy-Plugin 0.1

Hi list, This is the first release of the Proxy plugin for VDR. Proxy is a plugin that loads a plugin. Seriously. ;) The proxy plugin acts as a wrapper that encapsulates a VDR plugin and passes through all interfaces. To make this actually useful, the proxy plugin can modify the behavior of plugins, like changing the menu entry, group several plugins in one sub menu and load/unload plugins while VDR is running. This works even though proxy is 'just' a plugin, and does not require any patches to VDR. VDR in other rooms

Hi I'm setting up my VDR box with softdevice using the s-video connector of my epia board. When finish I want to use VDR in other rooms of my house. The house has coaxial cable net with connectors in all rooms. Trought this network I receive the analogic tv channels and this kind of installation is used to redistribute the vhs recorder signals sat decoders, etc. With VDR how can I get this without losing quality in my principal TV (saloon)? The remote signal have solved with a wireless ir sender. If possible I would use standar tv's(antena signal) because I already have one in the kitchen but .... Do you recommend me vdr clients ? I think this solution is more powerful than tv's but more expensive. What minimal hardware is needed to make a vdr client for only play and live tv, not recording? Thanks

firmware 0x261e and noise w/ mp3 plugin

Hi all! I tested firmware 0x261e from june 30 with the vdr mp3 plugin and get regular 'tsssk' insertions every 1-2 seconds.... firmware 0x261d is working nicely ... this is with dvb-cvs from june 21... [PATCH] make vdr more patch friendly

Hi! While including vdr into gentoo I found a lot of patches colliding at the same places in vdr. The places where this occurs mostly are: * config.h, members of cSetup * config.c, things in global space like new methods of cSetup * config.c, init of member variables of cSetup * config.c, store of member variables of cSetup * config.c, parse/read of member-variables of cSetup * i18n.c, definition of new i18ns The solution I propse is: In each of these places add a context for diff (perhaps like this): /* * Place for patches to insert functions/members to cSetup - Begin */ /* * Place for patches to insert functions/members to cSetup - End */ Attached is a patch to add these contexts at the places mentioned above. Now, if a patch wants to add some new members to cSetup these should be inserted between these two (three lines long) comments. The patch must also reproduce the context from above. Example: If patch a wants to add a variable a_active to cSetup this should result in that patch: /* * Place for patches to insert functions/members to cSetup - Begin */ + // added by patch a + int a_active; + /* + * Place for patches to insert functions/members to cSetup - End + */ + /* + * Place for patches to insert functions/members to cSetup - Begin + */ /* * Place for patches to insert functions/members to cSetup - End */ This will reproduce the context and the next patch can also be applied without problems. That has the following advantages: 1. The patch will be independent of other patches adding variables at the same place, as long as they also uses that technique. 2. no need to patch libdvb for analogtv

Hi Andreas! I found out that there is no need to patch libdvb to be able to use analogtv. The function get_pes with parameter pes_in_ts can be replaced by the function kpes_to_ts resulting in exactly the same code be executed. The patch also applies to current cvs. Greetings Matthias

What does that tell us about the clues of the European Patent Office? -- There is no TRUTH. There is no REALITY. There is no CONSISTENCY. There are no ABSOLUTE STATEMENTS I'm very probably wrong.

Choose the right audio from xine ?

Hello, in VDR there is a really nice feature : one can choose left or right audio from a stereo channel to hear from (the Swiss channels do there original language that way), but it don't seems to work from xine. Is it just me, in that case, could someone explain me how to choose the right audio ? Thank, -- Gr\'egoire Favre

1.3.27 with NPTL: always crashes at shutdown

1.3.27 doesn't seem quite NPTL ready, it always crashes at shutdown here on Fedora Core 4 (IIRC also on FC3 and 1.3.2x the last time I tried). No such problems when setting LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1. BBC 3, 4 Cbeebies, CBBC, etc. on DVB-T

Does anyone else have problems with the time-sharing (for want of a better word) channels on UK DVB-T, such as BBC Three, Four, CBeebies and CBBC? Irrespective of what I set the channels.conf update options to (i.e. names only, names and pids, nothing, etc.), I find that I have to restart VDR to get output on any of these channels if the VDR was active before they started broadcasting. I mean, if 7pm comes and I change channel to BBC Three, I won't get a picture or audio through my FF DVB-S card unless I leave the channel set to BBC Three and choose the "Setup|Restart" option from the VDR main menu. Femon shows that there is nothing wrong with the signal, and a video stream and audio stream are detected. Furthermore, I can view a stream of the channel through the Streamdev-server plugin on the VDR machine and any client I care to try on other PCs in the house. I get the same effect on Tele-G, but unless there's anyone else in the Grampian region on this list, I doubt this can be verified or tested. VDR 1.3.19.
