RingBuffer overflow

Hi! I use NAS system to store VDR data. Speed of network between HTPC and NAS is over 700 Mbit/s. However reading and writing to RAID5 is only 20MB/s at peak and about 10MB/s average. Normally everything is fine, but when there is one or more noad running, reading/writing data to that same NAS. But is there way to allocate "enought" memory to ring buffer, so it would not suffer when noad is running?!? My machine have 3 Gigs of memory, so I could "allocate" even 1 Gig to that ring buffer. -- JJussi

"Broken pipe" error in svdrp

Hi! My log file have lines: Oct 18 11:15:01 htpc noad[11363]: Saturday,18.10.2008 11:15:01 start noad-0.6.0 for /data/tv-rec/Uutiset/Tv-uutiset/2008-10-18.11.00.10.01.rec Oct 18 11:15:02 htpc vdr: [10411] ERROR (svdrp.c,413): Broken pipe So, every time when noad has started, vdr says that there is "Broken pipe". This error happen in bool cSVDRP::Send(const char *s, int length) Should something be fixed in my system or in source code? VDR system is 1.7.0 -- JJussi

HVR4000 and multifrontend

Hello, I need help to use dvb-t in vdr. Now I use s2api with multifrontend enabled compiled from http://linuxtv.org/hg/~stoth/s2-mfe (I also tried mfe patch against v4l version but i had same results) With Kaffeine 0.8.3 I can use both frontends, dvb-s and dvb-t. It can search channels and let me see dvb-t. Vdr (1.6.0 and 1.7.1 patched) do not let me use dvb-t channel I scanned. I also tried do double the adapter with these commands: mkdir /dev/dvb/adapter1 ln -s /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend1 /dev/dvb/adapter1/frontend0 ln -s /dev/dvb/adapter0/net1 /dev/dvb/adapter1/net0 ln -s /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr1 /dev/dvb/adapter1/dvr0 ln -s /dev/dvb/adapter0/demux1 /dev/dvb/adapter1/demux0 but vdr continues to ignore dvb-t channels while Kaffeine continues to work well. Someone knows what I have to do to (finally) see dvb-t channel with vdr? Tanks

Hello, thanks for the quick response! Everything compiled fine now. But still something seems to be broken there. Watching TV with mplayer works fine but there is a problem with vdr/xine. I attached my syslog and the output of vdr-sxfe. I hope someone has an idea whats causing this. Many thanks in advance! epg scan makes dvb-t tuning work unreliable

Hi My system has hvr-1300 (adapter0 connected terrestrial antenna for for dvb-t) and hvr-4000 (adapter1 connected to satellite dish for dvb-s, dvb-t antenna unconnected.) Whether I use just vdr-1.4.7, 1.6.0, 1.6.0-2 or 1.7.0 with or without any plugin, I have noticed that the dvb-t playback usually breaks about after 5-10 minutes and only reliable way to retune is to shutdown the vdr (ctrl-c for runvdr script and) and then restart it again. I have observed same behaviour every time over many days and for vdr-1.6.0 the /var/log/user.log shows always a following types of lines to be repeated. Therefore I went to configuration option setup/EPG/EPG Scan timeout (h) and changed it's value from 5 to 0. After that my vdr has now worked 15 hours without any problem. What does this EPG scan timeout do and should it be disabled by default if the system has dvb-t channels configured? Or is somebody seeing this problem or having a patch for fixing it? If I am using vdr for watching the dvb-s channels, things will work without problems even if this epg scan timeout is set. With vdr-1.7.0 I have used the liplianis multiproto tree and vdr 1.6.0 I have used with new dvb-v4l, S2 (http://linuxtv.org/hg/~stoth/s2/) and s2-mfe trees. (drivers from s2 and s2-mfe repositories works for me with vdr-1.6.0 when not trying S2 as the driver api is backward compatible) In addition I have tested with kaffeine with same drivers and there the system worked hours without losing the lock to dvb-t channel. I've found the rgb output protection board for use with the J2 jumper on certain FF cards at the VDR portal; http://www.vdr-portal.de/board/thread.php?threadid=5893&sid=ec2e4e55466d756… There's also a thread with an overview of existing boards here; http://www.vdr-portal.de/board/thread.php?threadid=14942 However, google translate has been failing to translate anything German for the last month, so I'm wondering if someone knows if ; - there are premade PCBs available from somewhere? - any other similar protection boards for rgb output can be found ready made from somewhere? - there are any updated or later discussions about RGB output PCBs for use with FF card via the J2 jumper block (preferable in english)? -- Torgeir Veimo torgeir(a)pobox.com

vdr 170 & multifrontend support

Hi can hvr4000 users use multifrontend features of this card completely on vdr 170? I mean - is it possible to listen FM radio, to watch analog TV and dvb-t and dvb-s/s2 with vdr 170 ? [PATCH] S2API for vdr-1.7.0 (07-10-2008 - quickhack for DVB-S(2), DVB-T and DVB-C)

Hello All, This patch gives VDR 1.7.0 support for DVB-C (untested), DVB-S (tested), DVB-S2 (tested) and DVB-T (tested) using S2API. The patch itself is still based upon Igor M. Liplianin's S2API patch. Today Steven Toth made some changes to the HG repo of S2API, so it was time for a new patch :) Here's what's new: - Added the new DTV commands for use with DVB-T; - Added DTV_ROLLOFF en ROLLOFF_35 frontend command/data for DVB-S (required to get a lock with DVB-S); - Removed NBC_QPSK modulation-hack since it was not needed anymore; - Removed QAM_AUTO modulation-hack for DVB-C and DVB-T (DVB-T doesn't require it anymore with the new DTV commands); Enclosed are two patches. The clean patch is for a clean VDR 1.7.0 source tree patched with Reinhard's vdr-1.7.0-h264-syncearly-framespersec-audioindexer-fielddetection-speedup.diff.bz2 patch. The diff patch is for those who have used the patch from 05-10-2008. Please only use this patch if you have updated to the latest S2API from http://linuxtv.org/hg/~stoth/s2! Thanks goes out to Igor, Darron Broad and Edgar (gimli) Hucek for the help and suggestions with the previous and current patches. Again, any feedback on this patch is highly appreciated!
